Mohun Bagan

Mohun Bagan Sporting Club, as it was initially known was founded on 15th August 1889. The club's first meeting was held at 14, Balaram Ghosh Street in Kolkata and included several high profile individuals including Bhupendranath Basu who waslater to become the President of the Indian National Congress. The club's first secretary was Jatindranath Basu.

The club's first ground was at the famous marble palace, known as Mohun Bagan Villa. It was situated at Fariapukur Street, in northern Kolkata. Not sufficiently large enough as football field,

Kingfisher East Bengal

Kingfisher East Bengal Football Club is an Indian football club based in Kolkata. The club was originally known as the East Bengal Club.

East Bengal Club was founded in the year 1920 by Raja Manmatha Nath Chowdhury and Suresh Chandra Chowdhury (Maharajas of Santosh which is a place in Bangladesh , the then Undivided India , the Santosh Trophy is titled under this name), Principal Sharada Ranjan Roy, Dr. Ramesh Chandra Sen. (who was famous by his nick name Nasa) and Sailesh Chandra Bose.

Mohammedan Sporting

The soccer history of India is replete with the tales of “The Big Three” Clubs of Calcutta, or rather of India. These three Clubs are Mohun Bagan AC, Mohammedan Sporting Club and East Bengal. Of these three Clubs, Mohun Bagan earned the distinction of being the first Indian team to lift the IFA Shield by defeating an English football team, the East York Regiment by 2-1 in 1911.
